The Power of Love - Inspired by Bishop Curry

On November 8, 2018, Presiding Bishop Michael Curry spoke at Holy Innocents Episcopal School. The focus of Bishop Curry's message was on the power of love, the same as he so beautifully expressed in his message during the recent royal wedding. He told us to "Love God, love your neighbor, and change the world." Bishop Curry captivated an audience of students and adults, by telling a story about the kind of love, an agape love, that Jesus had and that this is the kind of love that God wants us to have. This story was about a cat named Muffin, and a dog named Bishop. Muffin had been made a part of the family because their house was close to a field, and as winter set in so did the mice. Muffin had previously been in an unloving environment, and, to the family's dismay, she had lost her ability to function as a cat, which was naturally to catch mice. When the family and the dog Bishop showed Muffin love, she was able to fulfill her duties as a cat. LOVE had enabled Muffin to become the mouser that she was meant to be. The moral of his story was "there is no secret what God can do, what he did for Muffin, he will do for you." Bishop Curry was telling us that if love could change a cat, love can change us all, and we can change the world.
